Description
This dictionary is intended for all who are interested in epidemiology, including students of public health, those whose first language is not English and specialists in other fields who need to know epidemiologic terms. Prepared by over a hundred epidemiologists from all over the world, this edition has been updated and considerably expanded. More than 300 new terms have been added, the same number from the first edition have been completely rewritten, and many of the others have also been revised. As well as clear and concise definitions of all the terms commonly used in epidemiology, the dictionary provides definitions of terms from closely related fields. Brief biographical sketches of historically important figures in epidemiology add to its value as a reference work. The book's success is reflected in the number of foreign-language editions underway. The first edition was translated into Japanese and Chinese. Spanish and Portuguese translations are in progress, and a French language version comparable to this second edition is in press.
