Description
This special issue includes elaborated versions of the seven top ranked papers from the NordiCHI conference and an introduction to the conference topic "Design versus design." These papers provide ideas on how to understand, share, and involve a wider range of users in IT-design. They also stress the importance of developing HCI by looking at the history of creating artifacts and the history of building a "common ground" among groups of peoples. This special issue gives the reader an overview of the best ongoing research in HCI from Nordic countries.
The discussions in the eight contributions involve different aspects of design. The introduction takes on a broad perspective on HCI and the Scandanavian tradition, and establishes common ground via communication and design. Different methodological approaches are presented and some experiments are performed in the studies.
To further explore the new Scandanavian Tradition, visit the NordiCHI Web site at http://www.nordiCHI.org.
