Description
The palace of Neuburg on the Danube is one of the most important Renaissance palaces built by the Wittelsbachs in Bavaria. It was erected from 1527 in the reign of Count Palatine Ottheinrich as the residence of the principality of Palatinate-Neuburg. Count Palatine Philipp Wilhelm added the monumental Baroque wing with its distinctive round towers. Its many attractions include the historical halls, the first Protestant palace chapel and the palace grottoes, as well as the Palatinate-Neuburg Museum in the Baroque princes' wing and the State Gallery of Flemish Baroque Painting.
