Der Fotograf Jason Langer taucht in die schillernde Welt der nächtlichen Performanceszene von Portland, Oregon, ein. Über einen Zeitraum von fünf Jahren dokumentierte und interviewte er mehr als hundert Künstler:innen, deren Auftritte zwischen Verkleidung und Offenbarung oszillieren. In Hinterräumen von Stripclubs und in privaten Wohnungen porträtiert Langer Burlesque-Tänzer:innen, Dragqueens, Clowns und Trapeztänzer:innen, die persönliche Geschichten von Schmerz, Befreiung und Widerstandskraft in performative Kunst verwandeln. Seine intimen Farbfotografien verhandeln Fragen von Verletzlichkeit, Geschlecht, Schönheit und Macht. Zudem geben sie Einblick in eine Subkultur, die oft im Verborgenen existiert und zugleich gesehen werden möchte.
Langers (*1967) Arbeiten wurden vielfach international ausgestellt und befinden sich in bedeutenden Sammlungen.

Jason Langer (b. 1967) is an American photographer based in Portland, Oregon.
He holds a BA in Photography from the University of Oregon (1989), and has taught photography for the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, for more than a decade. He currently teaches for Santa Fe Workshops, Medium San Diego and is a faculty member of Photo Phlo. Langer's work has been exhibited by institutions such as Benrubi Gallery (NYC), Kopeikin Gallery (Los Angeles), and ClampArt, (NYC), and is held in permanent collections, the Yale University Art Gallery, Sir Elton John, Sir Mick Jagger, and International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum among them.
Jason Langer has published four books to date - Secret City (2006), Possession (2013), a mid-career retrospective Twenty Years (2015) and Berlin (2022). Caleb Cain Marcus (b. 1978, Colorado), is an American photographer, living in New York City. He runs the Brooklyn design studio Luminosity Lab. His work has been published by widely and is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Getty Museum. Cain Marcus has an MFA from Columbia University.
