Sufficient Defence?

This research report describes the developments in the 15 former Soviet republics during 1992, their first year of existence, in relation to international and national security matters. It focuses on how these new states have managed to cope with the superpower legacy of nuclear arms and armed forces, unsolved conflicts now exploding after 70 years of artificial pacification, and also how these states will adhere to the concept of "reasonable and sufficient defence" inherited from the Gorbachev era.
