Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) is an American conceptual artist. His works are made of cubes, pyramids, lines and other geometrical forms, deployed by the artist within a clear construction system that is then shared with the viewer. Each line and shape finds its place due to its simplicity and its ability to undermine subjectivity. It is this total, precision approach that has made Sol LeWitt one of the most important artists in his discipline. The Collection Lambert in Avignon was founded in 2000 by Yvon Lambert, seeking to open his personal collection of contemporary art to the public, within the walls of the city mansion known as the Hotel de Caumont.
