Description
Medieval philosophies, which flourished in the West between the 5th and 16th centuries, present a fascinating perspective on life, one which often seems strange to modern readers. Contemplating with Medieval Philosophers is an interactive study of selected representatives of these philosophies and a practical guide to contemplating on their deep insights. The book regards medieval philosophies not merely as theories of the past, but as starting points for the reader's own personal exploration. Selected ideas of fourteen medieval and Renaissance philosophers are presented here, together with suggestions for contemplative exercises. This approach has been developed in the international Deep Philosophy Group which practices contemplation on philosophical life-issues with the help of philosophical texts. This book is Volume 2 of the series Contemplating with Philosophers of the Past.
