The Dictionary of Cell Biology

Cell biology forms the link between the molecular life sciences and the rest of the biological and medicinal studies. Because of its boad spectrum, the vocabulary of cell biology is quite diverse, and includes many terms specific to the field, as well as terms borrowed from the whole range of adjoining disciplines. The first edition of this book was unique in gathering together a broad collection of the most frequently used terms in cell and molecular biology, as well as various related areas including genetics, neurobiology, physiology, immunology and pathology. The success of the first edition was widely recognized with enthusiastic reviews, and the book has proved to be a valuable reference source and "aide memoire". This second edition builds on the foundations of the first, with obsolete terms omitted and new ones added, reflecting the fast moving nature of the disciplines concerned.
