Description
Ion Channels in Cellular Pathophysiology, Part A, Volume 97 in the Current Topics in Membranes series, highlights new advances in the field, with this new volume presenting interesting chapters on topics such as Possible therapeutic effects of essential oils on Na channels in experimental diabetic neuropathy, Modulation of ion channels by Group I metabotropic glutamate receptors, ATP-sensitive potassium channels in neurons: roles in and beyond metabolic control, Chemically induced cardiotoxicity: role of voltage dependent ion channels, Thyroid Hormone Deficiency-Induced Cardiac Ion Channel Dysfunction: Molecular Mechanisms and Arrhythmic Implications, and much more.
Additional chapters discuss Pathophysiological Insights into Ion Channel Dysregulation and Electrical Remodeling in Cardiac Cells During Trypanosoma cruzi Infection, Targeting Sodium Channels in Neuroblastoma: Implications for Cellular Physiology, Breast cancer and voltage ion channels, Alpha-helical charged peptides a new concept of NaV gating modifiers, Nerve electrophysiological alterations in experimental diabetic neuropathy, and Cardioprotective effect of natural products on doxorubicin-induced acute cardiotoxicity and cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury.

LucianaAndrade is at Federal University de Minas Gerais, Brazil Christopher Kushmerick is a biophysicist and neurophysiologist specialized in cellular electrophysiology and synaptic transmission. He currently serves as a Professor of Pharmacology in the Department of Physiology at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) in Brazil, having previously held a long-term professorship at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of neurotransmitter release and the modulation of ion channels. Key areas of investigation include short-term synaptic plasticity and neuromodulation by G-protein coupled receptors.
