Islam in the Netherlands

Suspicion and clashes accompany the settlement of Muslims in European cultures. This book explores a case in point: Muslims in the Netherlands. Both Muslim and non-Muslim authors contribute to the debate about the future of Islam in this new context. Contributions range from the position of Muslim women in debates about the headscarf to the attempts by Muslims to set up a viable academic training centre for imams. To allow cross-cultural comparissions the volume also contains reflections from other parts of Europe.
