Myrna Kostash was born in Edmonton. The publication of her first book, All of Babas Children , had a profound effect on her life because it placed her squarely in the context of her ethnic community and gave her intellectual work its main focus. She has also written Long Way From Home (Lorimer, 1980), No Kidding (McClelland and Stewart, 1987) and The Doomed Bridegroom (NeWest, 1998). She continues to write for magazine and radio, and has had two stage plays produced.
