Dr.-Ing. Norbert Kockmann is researcher and group leader for micro process engineering at the Laboratory for Design of Microsystems at the Institute of Microtechnology (IMTEK) at Freiburg University, Germany. After finishing his diploma study of aerospace engineering at the Technical University of Munich in 1991, he joined the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer at Bremen University. Finishing his Ph.D. work, he worked thereafter as a project manager at Messer Griesheim GmbH for air separation units and a syngas plant. His current research interests include the design, fabrication, and experimental characterization of micro process engineering components as well as the fundamental processes in microsystems.
