Description
The Shirley Jackson Award-nominated author returns with a new collection of literary horror and weird fiction that glitters with startling prose and tortured souls.
Invaginies is an invasion, it is a perception that is bodily and transcendent creating holes, paths, or pockets of alternate truth-and not always voluntary-enlightenment.
Every line sings and strikes like grotesque poetry of the possessed. With 17 disturbing tales exploring plagues, possessions, gender & corruption, set in apocalyptic eras not much unlike our own, Joe Koch brings the terrors of a postmodern world into vivid focus.
Haunting and beautiful, Koch takes their place among the great names of the weird like Brian Evenson, exploring the queer perspective in horror as Billy Martin and Clive Barker, and contemporary rising voice, Eric LaRocca.
Literary prose meets the grotesque in this collection of stories to galvanize lovers of horror and weird fiction. With a growing cult audience, this collection is sure to shoot to the top of readers' tbr piles.

Reviews / Votes
"Joe Koch's new collection Invaginies disturbs and disorients with each turning page, the dread of each new vision escalating until the book fairly throbs in your trembling hands. Koch's language, precise and unyielding, illuminates each cruel moment like flashes of lightning, striking ever closer until the heat, the brilliance, the smell of sizzling flesh envelops you. Like the razor in Un Chien Andalou, each story is honed to a gleaming edge and slices keenly into the reader's understanding of themselves and the world they thought they knew. This is the darkest art, and Joe Koch is its master." -David Demchuk, award-winning author of The Bone Mother and RED X"Invaginiesis Koch's nastiest and most formally daring collection yet, a glistening tangle of poetic viscera dragged out into the light and impossible to look away from." -Gretchen Felker-Martin, author of Manhunt
"Seductively cerebral. Joe Koch peels away the world you know to show a deeper one you can't unsee. There's no recovering from Invaginies. This book digs into your head and makes you fall in love, even as it eats your brain from the inside out." -Hailey Piper, Bram Stoker award-winning author of Queen of Teeth
"I'm awestruck by Joe Koch's nonstop spellbinding, almost paralyzingly inventive and yet propulsive, ultra-focused prose." -Dennis Cooper, author of The Marbled Swarm, I Wished, The Sluts
"A thought-provoking collection that readers will experience physically, making it a great suggestion for those who like to mix their literary fiction with visceral, lush prose, recounting stories that captivate and discomfort in equal measure." -Booklist
"Joe Koch belongs in any conversation featuring the likes of Livia Llewellyn or Michael Cisco, but is incomparable. Dizzyingly inventive, and weird as weird gets, Invaginies will floor everybody." -Laird Barron, author of Not a Speck of Light (Stories)
