When Kiley met her fiancé she'd thought he was perfect. He was the first man she couldn't read, and the novelty gave her a break from the incessant noise of her gifts. But there was something off about the way he rushed the relationship, and she had the suspicion that her bookstore and its contents were more important than she is. So, she decides to follow him on a business trip, and gets a nasty surprise. Cáelán's working vacation was a miserable failure until he sees the little fireball confronting her soon to be ex. But when the cheating scumbag whips out magic to assault her, he realizes that his assignment and this romantic mess just collided. Now he is playing knight in shining armor to a woman who doesn't like that she needed rescuing, and reluctantly allowing her to help him track down and close a door you shouldn't open to save the world.
