Compendium of Arabic Languages

This book provides a general and updated review of Arabic dialects, as well as a selection of texts separating urban dialects in Saudi Arabia, with English translation and footnotes containing linguistic explications. It begins with a general introduction to Arabic dialects and is followed by a review of their four linguistic domains: phonology, morphology, syntax and lexicon. This book takes into account geographical as well as socio-linguistic factors, including the developing area of women's speech as contrasted with men's speech in various Arab countries.
