In a world where everyone makes good decisions... After the disaster of global warming, the world has finally gotten its act together. The planet is net-zero on carbon emissions, Artificial Intelligences are ubiquitous, and the Authenticity Act has outlawed deception in all forms. People are positive, sensible, and creating both a better future and a just present. So what could possibly go wrong? Well, other people. Mardy is a twenty-something gay man dreaming of becoming a fulltime machine-tool artist. He brims with ideas, puts in the hours and has a solid circle of artist buddies. Not to mention forbidden friendships with supportive AIs. But he's always coming in second to an irritatingly successful rival. When he meets the rival's twin, Mardy is smitten. But can he date his rival's brother? And why is the guy so secretive, anyway? Mardy plunges ahead (of course!), but art and love are never simple. Soon Mardy finds himself driven to pursue both his artistic passions and the liberation of his AI friends from servitude. He may fail, but if he risks everything, he may just find love in the process.
