Detection of and Construction at the Soil/rock Interface

This proceedings, "Detection of and Construction at the Soil/Rock Interface", consists of papers presented at the Symposium held on October 24, 1991, in conjunction with the ASCE National Convention, Orlando, Florida. It deals with a discussion of where rock starts, and the engineering and construction problems that occur at this boundary. This topic is especially important to consultants and contractors. Papers are of a practical nature covering a wide perspective. Topics include a keynote discussion of the soil/rock boundary, followed by discussions and case studies on the definition of rock as it pertains to construction and highway projects. Subjects covered include geographic differences in the definition of rock, effects of equipment changes on the definition, and ground stabilization in soft ground tunneling.
