Description
The wide applications of high-level composite materials at affordable development and manufacturing costs create significant demand for scientific research and computational methods to analyse properties in composite manufacturing. The mechanical behaviour of composite parts in service is dominated by fiber orientation and density, which in turn are determined by the forming process. In this case, predicting in-service performance of finished products requires a full understanding of, and preferably a prediction of, the complex material behaviour during manufacturing. The presented special issue covers these and other issues arising in the development, production, and application of modern composite materials and will be useful to many scientists and engineers from the mechanical engineering industry.
