Description
On June 22, 1944, the third anniversary of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, the Red Army launched Operation Bagration, its massive attempt to clear German forces from Belarus. In one of the largest campaigns of all time--involving two million Soviets and nearly a million Germans--the Soviets recaptured hundreds of miles of territory and annihilated an entire German army group in two months of vicious fighting. Bagration crippled the Germans in the East and helped turn the tide of the war.
