The Scots and Parliament

A new spirit of enquiry has arisen amongst students of Scottish constitutional history which, while non-iconoclastic in tone, is at odds with the received establishment view that has prevailed until recently. This collection of papers reflects this new spirit. It looks at both the Scottish Parliament from the Middle Ages to the Anglo-Scottish Union of 1707 and the place of the Scottish parliamentary system within Great Britain and the United Kingdom. The volume has legal and social as well as political and constitutional dimensions.
