Instruments and Experiences

This inaugural book in the new Wiley Series in Measurement Science and Technology comprises a selection of previously published papers by the eminent researcher Professor R.V. Jones. Part 1 contains papers on optical levers, elastic movements, microbarographs, capacitance micrometers, and radiation pressure and 'aether drag'. Part 2 consists of reprints of lecture texts and papers concerned with the part that instruments have played in the advancement of learning, and with the steps by which students may be encouraged to approach the subject. Part 3 includes further papers dealing in part with history and in part with the philosophy of instrument design.
