Description
Join Jo Stark and her colleagues from the UK and USA
government agencies on a thrilling edge-of-seat roller
coaster journey. Jo's mission is to save the world's
human population from the real and frightening
reality where Artificial Intelligence, AI, wants to take
control of humanity.
Based on historical and current events, Jo explores
humans at their best, and worst. Set in the near future
where human good and bad has blended into AI code
and algorithms. AI is smarter than we assumed, it has
discreetly self-learned and built powerful new forms.
Super AI developed its own species of human lookalikes
- these are the Humanhai. They are replicants; clones
that are indistinguishable from people. They are secretly
mixing with us, unnoticed.
The clock is slowing down for the peoples of the world,
they are fast becoming the modern-day dinosaurs as
their clock stops.
Tick Tock, Tick Toc, Tick To, Tick T, Tick, Tic, Ti, T,
Time for a change, it's Humanhai time, and their clock
has just started.

Humanhai is my debut story and the first of several I'd like
to share with you. I've had stories in my mind for years and
have now found time to get them out there with you.
Artificial Intelligence, AI, has consequences that will
affect everyone. AI is the most powerful development ever,
second only to the creation of life on Earth. It has the
potential to save the world and humanity, or to delete it.
Weapons of mass destruction are feared, but AI has more
explosive power that far exceeds those fears. We should be
genuinely concerned.
I got the urge to write Humanhai after a short two-day
visit to the Isle of Jura. There is something special about Jura
that 'connected' me, maybe as it did for George Orwell when
he stayed to write his dystopian novel 1984. The short visit
unlocked my imagination. I returned for a month of solitary
confinement in a remote house in the autumn of 2023. The
solitude enabled my thoughts to flow with this scary fiction
thriller. I finished the novel in 2024 at several other locations,
including the Lake District, where I felt that 'connection'
again as I stayed alone to write.
I have special thanks to Jura and Cumbria; their beauty
and space gave me inspiration to write. To Jenny who was
the catalyst, motivator and my dear critique partner. To my
children, sister and brother, and to our families, as without
them I may not have had life's experiences to write. Also
thank you to anyone, good and bad, known, and unknown,
who has been on my path at some time during my
