Description
This collection is the outcome of the research project on Laser Diagnostics and Modeling of Combustion carried out in Japan from 1983 to 1986. While hundreds of papers have been published by members of this project, a selection was made to represent the essence of the results in this one volume. A variety of laser diagnostics applicable to practical flames is presented along with theoretical and experimental work to elucidate flame processes, including those in engines. Emphasis is on enhancement of the rapport between scientists and engineers, which enables the reader to find the current trend of fundamental research in combustion engineering.
