Numicon at the Seaside is designed to work with the Numicon Firm Foundations Kit to help children aged 4-5 develop an rich understanding of number ideas by directly connecting Numicon Shapes and patterns, numerals and counting around the theme of the seaside, in other words to help develop in children rich concept images of number ideas 1-10. The idea of 'concept image' is fully explained in the Numicon Foundation Stage Teaching Guide, as are the key mathematical ideas that children will encounter in the rhymes, pictures and activities.
