Geoff Hurst was born near Manchester in 1941. He began his career at West Ham, where he scored 248 goals in 499 appearances, before moving to Stoke City and then West Bromwich Albion. For England he won 49 caps between 1966 and 1972, scoring 24 goals. From 1979-81 he managed Chelsea before leaving the game to develop his business interests. In 1998 he was knighted for his services to football, and he travels the globe as an ambassador for English football.
