Description
This text introduces a logical theory of photographers lighting - one that teaches beginning photographics to predict results before setting up lights. This is not primarily a "how-to" book with only set examples for photographers to follow. Rather, it provides the reader with a comprehensive theory of the nature and principles of light to allow individual photographers to use lighting to express their own creativity. Numerous photographs and illustrations provide clear examples of the theories delineated within the text, while sidebars highlight special lighting questions. The third edition includes a new chapter on painting with light - the technique of moving the light source during a long exposure. Also included is new information on shooting digital, in particular the popular method of shooting on a white background so that subjects can be digitally "peeled" off the background and inserted into another image in a program such as Photoshop or Premiere.
Reviews / Votes
"This is the first book I have seen on photographic lighting that is worth using as a text. Light: Science and Magic is about principles, not cheap tricks or the authors' portfolio. Thanks!" Pete Christman, Savannah College of Art and DesignMore details
