Description
This collection of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) evolved from and complements "Essential Paediatrics", second edition. Over half the questions have been revised but the format remains as before. The final chapter contains a series of case histories designed to test ability to solve clinical problems and to select appropriate management. The construction of the MCQs follows the formula most widely used in the United Kingdom, a stem followed by five independent items which may be either true or false. Any number of the five items may be correct. The correct answers and an explanation are provided on the page following the questions. A presumed diagnosis is added where this is relevant to the case history. Many of the questions included in this book have been used in undergraduate examinations at Nottingham and all have been reviewed by a panel of clinical teachers. The questions are not selected solely to provide examination practice. Some are more difficult than will be encountered in the final MB examination and are appropriate for those preparing for the DCH, but all aim to emphasize important areas in practical paediatrics.
