Description
"Iron Age Migrations" presents a substantial revision of the Iron Age sequence of Zambia based on the excavations of two Kalomo culture mounds. The linguistic and cultural history of both eastern and western Bantu speakers is reconstructed from ethnographic models of settlement organization and a detailed comparison of ceramic style. These two procedures help clarify the origins of the Luangwa tradition, the Kaloma culture and the early Iron Age of central and southern Africa. The book is aimed at researchers and students of African archaeology and anthropology.
