Education for Parenthood: Teachers' Guide

This teachers'guide which is a companion to "The Education for Parenthood" pack brings together all the learning gained from the Parent Project which took place in 1995/96 in five schools in the Greater Manchester area. It includes: schemes of work that were succesfully piloted; examples of how to use the material from the pack effectively; commentary on where to place parenthood in the curriculum; suggestions about teaching skills and methods; pointers for successful delivery; comments of differentiation; advise about handling delicate and sensitive issues; suggestions for assemblies, cover lessons and displays; do's and don'ts in the classroom; involvement of parents and governors; examination of the issues of achievement, validation and accreditation; advise to schools about developing policiesand processes for successful integration of parenthood into the curriculum; how to inform and train colleagues to deliver parenthood, plus suggestions for INSET; key issues which a parenthood syllabus should address; questionnaires to test whether you and your school are ready to teach parenthood; further reading and resources , and an index to all the pack's activities.
