Description
The Where the Rain Falls project investigates how changes in rainfall interact with societies. Findings from all case studies confirm that rainfall variability and food insecurity are key drivers for human mobility. The Peru case study was conducted in Huancayo District, Junín Region.
The scientific findings show that livelihood options and migration strategies vary by elevation and proximity to urban centres. For 53 per cent of the households surveyed, changing rainfall has a severe impact on food production: farming activities become riskier in terms of food security and livelihood.
