This is a single-volume intermediate French programme which places readings at the core of each chapter. The readings serve as a basis for each chapter's vocabulary development, grammar and many of the communication activities. Real-life materials are used for effective building of language skills and reading strategies should help students understand the most important aspects of reading. Pair and group activities are integrated to encourage communication. Each unit has been established around a set of proficiency functions - asking questions, narrating, describing - that are spiralled throughout the text and are sequenced according to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Grammar explanations are in English, along with a number of contexualized exercises for student practice.
