Scottish Devolution

This work provides a detailed guide to the provisions of the Scotland Bill, combining an explanation of the legislation with commentary and discussion of controversial issues. A considered view is given of the relations between the new Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Executive, local government and other bodies, whilst recognising Scotland's role vis-a-vis the European Union, as well as relations with Whitehall and Westminster. Throughout the work, the devolution measure is assessed against a background of Scotland's constitutional position since the union of 1707.
