Description
There is no better time to read a story to a friend or a loved one than when they are leaving this body and making their transition into the next Life. It is a time that can frighten us or fill us with sadness for our impending loss. If we can fill our hearts and minds with loving words and images of a Life beyond this Life, it can soothe us and the dear one we wish to help on their journey. Don't wait to read a eulogy after your Loved One is gone. Read a short story-a metaphor-inspired by a poem almost 200 years old. A sailing ship leaves the shore and as well-wishers shout their goodbyes, those on a distant shore chime their welcome. Ease the journey of anyone you care about by reading Sailing into the Light aloud to them.

Person
Susan is an author and speaker who relies on her education as a prenatal and perinatal psychologist and her personal experience as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is a counselor and educator dedicated to mommies and babies. She has written a primer for young women that focuses on natural birth and considerations of birthing and bonding in new ways (The Renaissance of Birth: Changing the Language of Childbirth). She has also penned four fairy tales designed to be read to babies in utero-those new souls coming into this life. Most recently however, having been with several friends and loved ones who were dwelling in the last stage of life, she has been inspired to write a story about the passage beyond the body and into the next realm. Having both a Masters' level Certificate in Gerontology and a Doctorate of Divinity, she has created a metaphor of this final journey that is soothing and consoling. Susan is a lifelong learner who endeavors to balance psychological theory with spiritual wisdom.
