Description
"Tentativity" documents in free verse some of the more extreme moments in my life from the first attempts with this written form in 1968 and tracking its progress for around forty years as the diary entries of an emotional journey. The four sections follow a very loose sense of chronology beginning with the New York experience, with many references to life in England both before and after. The words deal with disillusionment, death and pain but are tempered with love, elation and exploration both geographical and metaphysical. But in all cases the emphasis is less upon the explanation and more about a search to understand the here and now, the there and then. To encapsulate something fleeting and obscure, sometimes half-remembered or barely understood, in free and loose assemblies of verbal imagery.
