Without Honour

Mike Hayes, author and co-author of over fifty articles of a factual nature in professional and related publications dips his toe into fiction. He has used a flimsy scaffold of historical fact and theory to craft a trilogy spanning the reigns of five monarchs, three wars and seven decades. Always intended as a trilogy, each part is a whole and for those who wish it, a 'stand-alone'.

In 'Without honour', we follow the lives of two professionals. The one, a scion of landed gentry, for whom, service to the Royal of the day, at home and in far flung regions of the Empire, was the natural thing. The other, a young Welsh nurse who volunteers for service abroad, meets, treats and loves the soldier man. For her the outcome is disastrous. 'Without honour' is set in southern Africa during what is known as the little reported, First and Second Boer Wars.
