Description
This book is a personal account by G. Harris (Mrs James P. Harris) of the siege of Lucknow during the Mutiny of 1857. It chronicles on a day-to-day basis the experiences of those within the Residency's battered walls and vividly recreates the days between 15 April 1857 to 3 January 1858 in the form of diary entries. The diary gives short narrations of the trials that the besieged British colonialists faced there. The conflict became an abiding symbol of the spirit and fortitude of the?men?and?women?that?made?the?British?Empire.
