If you have to have an operation you may have no choice about it. But most surgery is "elective" meaning you chose to have it. Often there is apprehension, sometimes fear amounting to a level of terror. In the opinion of the author, an experienced surgeon, fear can be greatly reduced if the patient knows what to expect, and can understand the processes passed through on the way to the actual operation, and what might be expected after the operation.
