Gustavo Gutiérrez (1928-2024), was a Dominican priest and theologian from Peru, widely recognized as the "father of liberation theology." Aside from his classic, A Theology of Liberation, his books include On Job: God-Talk and the Suffering of the Innocent, We Drink from Our Own Wells, The Truth Shall Make You Free, and Las Casas: In Search of the Poor of Jesus Christ. He was professor emeritus of theology, University of Notre Dame.
