Description
St Lambert's Church at the northern end of Prinzipalmarkt is the most important sacred building of the Westphalian late Gothic period and a church that was financed by local merchants. A special feature are the iron baskets attached to the tower, in which the bodies of the leaders of the "Anabaptist Kingdom of Münster" were exhibited in 1536. The most famous pastor of St Lamberti's is Clemens August Graf von Galen, who became Bishop of Münster in 1933 and also preached in this church against the crimes of the National Socialists.
