Description
Which plants shall we grow? Where should we plant them? And how do we care for them? Helping with real tasks is a natural progression from pretend play, and is a crucial stage in a child's development. Achieving a shared goal encourages a sense of responsibility, and develops many skills useful in later life. Simple conversational text and lively illustrations are carefully designed to encourage further dialogue between reader and child.
Reviews / Votes
A little boy is with his father, and they are going to plant a garden together. At the garden center, the little boy chooses some seeds, and thenhe had his father plant them in a tray. After receiving a little water and some sunlight, the seeds soon send up little plants. Later, the little boy
helps his father transplant some plants into the garden and to sow some lettuce seeds in the ground. The plants will need to be watered, and then
there will be weeds to pull. Soon enough there will be flowers to admire and fresh veggies to harvest and eat.
This board book helps little children to see that creating a garden takes a lot of work, but it is also a lot of fun. It is something to do that gives
you a great deal of pleasure, and you have something to show for your labors at the end.
With a simple text and brightly colored illustrations, this book is perfect for little children who want to become gardeners. -- Marya Jansen-Gruber * Through The Looking Glass Children's Book Review * Helping Hands series
"Birkett's bright, line and color illustrations focus on the child and her contributions, evoking Aliki in line and mood. The narration's rapid fire enthusiasm is appealing." * Kirkus Reviews *
