The Ark of the Covenant

At the heart of the city of Aksum, in the highlands of Northern Ethiopia, there is a small chapel with a green dome. The entrance is constantly guarded, and beyond it lies an object revered by millions of Christian Ethiopians. For centuries the people of this ancient nation have believed that the most tremendous relic of antiquity still resides among them - the Ark of the Covenant. During the late 1980s, Stuart Munro-Hay and Roderick Grierson began to collaborate on the task of verifying these claims. This is an account of their findings.
