Professor Porter has written many research articles in the mathematical area of Topology and has served on numerous committees related to mathematics, teaching, and governance. Professor Porter is one of the founders of the highly regarded Teachers for Tomorrow program at Saint Mary's College, and has advised future elementary school teachers as well as future secondary mathematics teachers throughout her twenty years at Saint Mary's College.
