Combining textual study and fieldwork, the author explores the historical development and present-day significance of the sakti-pi?ha s. The book provides an overview of the sites currently venerated as sakti-pi?ha s. It examines their mythological and historical backgrounds, the theological and ritual traditions that have shaped them, and the processes that developed and unified them as a group.
