When the Wise Ones Cry

A young child and her mother live in a small village in the southwest interior of Shydan, a continent ruled by the Shadow, their Emperor. Despite their simple farm life far away from the politics within the cities, dark news soon begins to trickle into their little town. The girl, who has always stood apart from her peers, for reasons she does not understand, finds herself thrust into a journey of unexpected importance. She discovers the world is not as it seems and there are powers that exist beyond her furthest imaginings. As she grows into a woman the strife within the empire comes to a head and she must make a decision as to where her loyalties lie. Will the Emperor maintain control? Will all of Shydan fall to ruin? Will humanity survive a war older than their very existence?
