Lawrence Gordon was born Columbia, South Carolina, and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. His late mother, Dacia, was a high school teacher, and his late father, Morris, served in the United States Army until retirement. Lawrence credits his older sister with helping him to navigate through humble beginnings. He lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife and three children, and hopes to influence father figures everywhere to read more often with their children.
