Marta Gili is a specialist in contemporary art and photography and has been the head of the department of photography and visual arts at the La Caixa Foundation in Barcelona since 1992. She was the artistic director of the 'Prentemps' festival in Toulouse, France, in 2002 and 2003 and has curated numerous photography exhibitions including solo exhibitions on Miguel Rio Branco, Christer Stromholm, Gillian Wearing and Doug Aitken amongst others. She regularly contributes articles to photography and art journals, exhibition catalogues and publications and has contributed to conferences in Spain and abroad. Author's residence: Barcelona, Spain
