Description
In response to the atrocities brought about by anti-personnel landmines in countries such as Afghanistan and Angola, this book has been compiled to draw attention to the plight of victims and their suffering. It is also intended to generate support for a total ban on the manufacture, distribution and use of anti-personnel mines. The British Red Cross has endorsed the project, and all profits will go the charity. Forty five personalities, artists and public figures donated hand and foot prints with text and drawings. These include: Sir Elton John, David Hockney, Yehudi Menuhin, Sally Gunnell, Joan Armatrading and Gerald Scarfe. These are interspersed by photographs from Angola and Cambodia and text by Mike Whitlam, Director General of The British Red Cross. Phaidon Press offered their services to distribute the book.
