Description
This book covers the trauma procedures that a trainee is expected to be able to perform during his basic surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics. It is designed as an operative atlas of the most common fracture fixation procedures and concisely but comprehensively summarises all aspects of each surgical procedure from indications, radiological investigations, pre-operative planning, positioning of the patient in theatre, the approach to be used, reduction techniques, common pitfalls and postoperative mobilization, right through to follow up in the outpatient clinic. The necessary surgical instrumentation and implant(s) required to perform each procedure are also covered, as are any possible complications. Superbly reproduced pre- and postoperative radiographs enhance the understanding of the operative procedure and the operations themselves are illustrated by clear photographs taken at key stages of each procedure.
