Research and Teaching at Universities

The interdependence of research and teaching at universities is widely debated at present. It is the aim of this book to contribute to this discussion from an international and comparative perspective. The contributors (from Europe, North-America and Australia) analyze historical origins, normative concepts and theoretical implications of the changing relationship between research and teaching. They also discuss various proposals for the implementation of theoretical concepts such as the 'unity of research and teaching' within national systems of higher education, like those of Austria, Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain and USA.
