Description
"Introduction to Clinical Neurology, Second Edition", is organized in the same way students learn neurology during their clerkships, beginning with the initial neurologic exam and some modifications on the exam and including interpretation of the exam and problem solving. Case studies, accompanying each chapter, have been proved in medical education to be an ideal learning tool. In addition, there are updates regarding drugs and treatments, such as TPA, clopidogrel, and more recent endarectomy results. This concise and portable guide will continue to provide basic information to the student learning clinical neurology.
Reviews / Votes
Dr. Patricia Davis of University of Iowa writes, "I think it is easy to read and covers the major areas of Neurology." good example cases, logical and common sense, excellent principles for students "Rapid and admittedly superficial review of this book reveals several deficiencies that make it unacceptable for the only major reference in an introductory course. eg: no mention of papilledema or optic disc edema other than "swollen" (p.299); similar deficiencies for visual fields (p.24); light near disassociation; Argyll Robertson Pupil; Parinaud's (dorsal midbrain) syndrome. Forgive me if I have missed your mention of these topics, but they are not readily located by either index or related chapter title. Also, pages are stilted, print on an angle due to faulty cutting/binding." -Larry Embree, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center easy to read, good diagrams, very good initial chapters on "Where's the Lesion?" and "Neurologic Exam" I like the selection of content. It deals with commonly encountered problems that primary care physicians are likely to encounter. This is an outstanding text. Excellent choice for medical students in a core clerkship in neurology. "Too long, too wordy table, etc., covers too much info and too many diseases for students to read in one month"More details
